I have a Micro Max. A couple of different models of awnings just became available for the Micro and I want to get one for my camper this year ….It got me thinking though …. With a keder rail, can someone explain why I can’t use any model awning that has the same attachment system and is a similar size? I realize there must be a reason why as they are all sold as model specific but I don’t understand why that is the case if they all simply thread into the keder rail in the same way.

I know a couple of travelers that made their own awnings using home made keder rails.  I also know of an owner that bypassed the keder requirement and used velcro on both their unit and on the awning.  If you're handy I don't see any issue in giving anything a try.  My guess is that the size DOES matter and so does the size of the keder rail.  Just my 2cents minus tax, title and license......

Thanks!...Yes I'm seeing a lot of DIY awnings - some very nice. Do you happen to know the keder rail size on these campers? Apparently there are different sizes available...

I don't.  But it should be easy to measure down at the end opening.  I'm not sure I ever saw a spec on the rail size anywhere.
