I purchased my little camper in September and finally found a few days where I could fit in a trip before the end of the year... starting to get cold here now in NC. Everything went great apart from one thing - the water heater on electric power. Did not work. Worked great on LP. I checked breakers but everything looks good. I did run water through the system before I attempted to use the water heater. I ran the furnace around the same time and there was a smell that I put down to first time use but now I'm wondering if it was the element burning out.

The model is Dometic WH-6GEA

I have put a call into the dealership service department but wondered if I had missed something.

MT, from what part of NC are you?  We live in Polk County, if you are close by maybe we can meet on the Blue Ridge sometime.  If you are close from which dealer did you purchase your unit?  We can easily get to Bumgarmers or Sonny’s in Duncan.  We would like to find out your experience with service.  What is your take on the Micro, do you have experience with other small trailers?  We currently have a 2008 T@B but are considering a new Micro.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi @maryk !

Sorry for the late response. Is there a way to set up notifications so I don't miss posts?

Anyway... I live just north of Raleigh so I am quite some distance from you. I will however be visiting your side of NC this year at some point - it's so pretty out there.

We purchased from D & H in Apex locally and had them fix the water heater issue.

We really like the Micro because these main reasons:

1) It is small and tows like a dream, 2) It is finished really nicely inside 3) It has an inside kitchen and 4) finally but MOST IMPORTANTLY - it can be garaged!

We used to own a 22' Airstream Safari 75th anniversary edition which was a real eye catcher but I wasn't as taken with it as others seem to have been. I thought for the money, it should have had a higher level of QC. We paid for monthly storage and I hated having to do that - not just because of the money but because I couldn't get to it easily and each trip we had to go pick it up and return after. It's so nice to just detach the Micro from the car and push it into the garage. I also found the elements took their toll somewhat on the outside of the Aistream. I didn't even have to fully winterize the Micro because my garage is so well insulated.

So the Micro doesn't give me as much room as the Airstream did of course as it is smaller and doesn't have a bathroom BUT we don't need room other than to sleep, make drinks and meals and brush our teeth. I use a pop up cubicle outside to shower or I can use public showers if available and its not a big deal.

I bring a Thetford portable potty which sits nicely where the smaller dinette is. LG just brought out the CT version of the Micro which has a cassette toilet built in and they replaced one of the seats of the small dinette would normally be to make it fit - so kinda what we have been doing anyway. However, in the CT once the toilet has replaced the seat, you no longer have the option BUT in my case I can remove the cassette potty and move it outside to my pop up cubicle and still use both seats in the small dinette so I prefer the non CT version of the Micro.                         I like to keep the bed in place so my husband and I use the small dinette section all the time.

Anyway check out the Micro - you might like it, we sure do!

EDIT: I just found how to subscribe to response notifications so I won't miss replies in the future.

@musictraveler, First off this is MaryK’s husband JohnR.  This forum is the most frustrating one with which I have ever been involved, it gives me error messages every which way I turn.   Anyway your reasoning is very much inline with us.  We have a 2008 T@B, love it but are looking to move to something newer.  If we could get a 320U model we would snap it up but they are no longer available.  Right now our T@Bie is on consignment with Bumgarners, as soon as it moves we are looking at obtaining a Micro Max and are looking for comments from owners.  Thanks for your thoughts, stay in touch.

Hello Johnr.  Sorry to hear you are having trouble on these forums.  I'll agree, since the change over a few years ago it has been "quirky" and sometimes difficult to use.  Hence why a lot of individuals choose to post elsewhere.  I'm not really sure how to address these issues with whoever runs this forum administratively.  We sure could use a small board with access to admin that can make changes and help with issues other than with LG stuff and opinions.

I'll pursue, but I have no guarantees for you.  Hopefully ADMIN will monitor and read these messages.
