Telescoping ladder

I got a 6.5 foot telescoping ladder from Amazon, and it's just right to reach the roof basket.  However, I store it in back of the Xterra, and it's very difficult to pack it so it doesn't flop over on other stuff, and is a bit heavy.  I'm trying to decide how to secure it, so if anyone has ideas, do tell.  I may try fastening it to the backseat headrest, although it may not work well...  it will be a challenge to get it out when needed.  The 6.5 foot works because it's a Five Wide Rough Rider and not as high as the Max or Minimax.
